ThinMan participated in the Nike Football 5 tournament today in the name "Fake Friend", which symbolizes many events in 2006. It was the first match day in the Kwun Tong Preliminary Round. ThinMan was in Group 5 among Many Circles Sai Kung* and FDBWA Alumni*.
Realizing the tough challenges lying ahead, ThinMan prepared for the competition very seriously. All of the Thin Men put their works and studies behind while spending extra time in training as they counted-down for the kick-off.
Just before the games at
the Hong Ling Road Playground, ThinMan got some bad news about two absentees. Striker Nitta Chun and acting manager Yiu Ho could not make the game and was late respectively. Fortunately, Mei-Hang's girlfriend stepped in to be the team's acting-acting manager and ThinMan was eligible to play.
Before kick-off, ThinMan set their expectation - a victory at least! In the first outing, the team was facing Many Circles Sai Kung. This opponent was considered to be on the same level of ThinMan and the weaker one among the two; therefore this is the team that ThinMan had to beat in order to accomplish the fore-set target. After a evenly fought game, the team managed to score a marginal victory with a goal from Oku-Dye.
Morale among the Thin Men was superb after the win and the team went into the second match with more determination then ever.
In the second game, ThinMan had a brilliant start against FDBWA Alumni. The team was in a lead of 3-0 within five minutes thank to the goals scored by Kealu (2) and Oku-Dye. With this unexpected lead, ThinMan played a little less aggressively and enjoyed the rest of the game. Kealu finished his incredible hat-trick and ThinMan won the game by 4-1.
ThinMan won the group, exceeding all expectations, with two victories. The team will go into Preliminay Round 2 tomorrow and fight for the best.
