After a spectacular opening ceremony at the Bird's Nest, the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games is underway. ThinManiac Jay Lyon competed in the archery men's individual ranking round on Day 1. Jay shot a score of 646, 33 points behind the leader, and ranked 47th.
Jay, who is 57th in the FITA world ranking, will be back at the Olympic Green Archery Field at 12:10 Aug 13 (local time) for the 1/32 eliminations round. He will be shooting against Xue Hai Feng of the host country. The Chinese archer, who ranks 18th in the world, managed a score of 663 and finished 18th at the ranking round yesterday.
Before the next individual round, Jay will also be shooting for Canada in the Men's Team 1/8 Eliminations at 10:00 Aug 11. The Canadian team, 11th in the ranking round, will be facing the no. 6 ranked Italian team. Should they progress, they will be facing Malaysia, ranked 3rd, in the 1/4 Eliminations at 11:40 on the same day. The men's team medalists will be decided in the afternoon.
